Information on your student plan can be obtained by contacting your Graduate students’ society. Visit them online at https://gss.uvic.ca

Under the Graduate Students’ Society Plans, coordination of extended health and/or dental coverages through coverage provided through your employer, spouse, or parent is allowed. For more information about the coordination of benefits, please see the Pacific Blue Cross Advice Centre.

Getting Assistance

This online opt-out submission of the GSS Extended Health and/or GSS Dental Plan is only applicable for UVic Graduate Students registered in programs recognized by the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University Of Victoria. This is not for undergraduate students.

This form is not for graduate students that live outside of Canada or will not be traveling to Canada. If you need more information or have a question specific, please contact the UVIC Graduate Students’ Society Health and Dental Coordinator listed on the right side of the page.

Opting Out

If you have comparable coverage under an alternate plan through your employer, spouse, or parent you may opt out. You must be able to provide proof of alternate coverage that details the insurance provider and policy number.

BC MSP is not the same as extended health and dental coverage. The GSS Extended Health and Dental Insurance Plans do not replace BC MSP. All members of the GSS Extended Health and Dental Insurance Plans are required to have basic medical insurance, BC MSP or other Canadian Provincial/Territorial Number, for the duration of their coverage.

All UVic students are required to have comprehensive coverage for the entire duration of their academic studies at the University Of Victoria.

The opt-out period is from Sunday, September 01, 2024 to Sunday, September 22, 2024 .
