Work & Wellness toolkit adds a fully digital claims process for new disability claimantsThursday, May 28, 2020
Our new claims process also includes connection to a virtual doctor for assistance with completing and submitting the Attending Physician form—the first health benefits provider in Canada to offer this service.
The latest addition to our Work & Wellness toolkit is a fully digital claims process for new disability claimants, including connection to a virtual doctor for assistance with completing and submitting the Attending Physician form—the first health benefits provider in Canada to offer this service. Online claim forms enable faster, more efficient processing of disability benefit applications, so our members get the help they need as quickly as possible.
With the onset of COVID-19, we’ve made it a priority to emphasize and enhance our digital tools to encourage convenient online account management. This new functionality, designed for short- and long-term disability coverage, allows members, plan sponsors and Attending Physicians to fill out and submit the required onboarding package of documents electronically, including the standard Employee Statement, Employer Statement, and Attending Physician forms.
Virtual doctors available through our partnership with EQ Care
If a member does not have access to a physician, our case managers can connect them with a virtual doctor through EQ Care, Canada’s pioneer virtual care provider. This new process means the Attending Physician form can now go from doctor to Pacific Blue Cross without ever requiring an in-person visit. (Some exceptions may apply; this is available at the discretion of the member’s case manager.)
Plan Sponsors can access the online forms through ADMINnet, and send employees who need to apply for disability benefits the link to the complete online guide. Manual form processing and submission will remain available; custom forms are currently not available in digital format. If you have any questions, please contact your Pacific Blue Cross Account Executive.
If you are a Pacific Blue Cross member and have questions about your disability benefits, please contact your employer or health plan administrator.
