We are pleased to share that Pacific Blue Cross’s own Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Leza Muir, won the Business Person of the Year Award at the 20^th annual Burnaby Business Excellence Awards Gala, held on November 7^th, 2019, at the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown. This black-tie event brings together hundreds of top business leaders from Burnaby and across the region each year to celebrate business success within the community.

The Business Person of the Year Award is given to a local businessperson who, through personal vision, expertise, dedication and performance, is an outstanding role model for business development and excellence.

“I am honoured to accept this award, because I know that I am accepting it on behalf of everyone I’ve had the good fortune of working with over the years,” says Leza Muir. “Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege to operate alongside, and be inspired by, some of the most dedicated, intelligent and caring people you could ever want to meet. I am truly blessed to be a part of such an incredible community of people who work hard every day to make Burnaby the wonderful, thriving city we all know and love.”

With over 40 years in the industry, Leza has become one of the most knowledgeable resources on private and public health care in Canada. She is committed to exploring better ways to serve the health needs of Canadians through cost-effective health care management.

Leza’s wealth of knowledge comes from devoting her entire career to health care. Starting from within the ranks of the Medical Services Association, she has provided strategic innovation and direction in several positions, continually improving the patient experience throughout her rise to lead Pacific Blue Cross’ Health and Dental Claims division.

Outside of Pacific Blue Cross, Leza is an active member of the community, donating her time to several organizations and not-for-profits throughout her career and holding positions on various national and provincial committees.

Healthy Workplace Award

Pacific Blue Cross presented the annual Healthy Workplace Award to Park Insurance at this year’s event. This award recognizes a business that has created a workplace and culture that supports employees in their efforts to achieve work-life balance and maintain and improve their physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing.
