Business Select is a flexible benefit package that provides affordable group coverage for businesses with two or more employees. You can tailor to your plan to meet your specific needs, so as your business grows, Business Select grows right along with you.
Plan Highlights:
Business Select consists of a core health plan that provides up to 80% coverage for many health care products and services not covered by the provincial government health plan. After we have paid $1,000 in a calendar year, we'll pay 100% of eligible expenses within that year. Your employees enjoy a lifetime of coverage up to a maximum of $100,000. Business Select also includes life and critical illness benefits and provides dental coverage options so you can choose the coverage you need.
- Prescription Drugs
Covers 80% of the cost of PharmaCare eligible prescription drugs, plus prescriptions that are not eligible under the government PharmaCare plan. - Vision Care
Covers corrective lenses up to $75 per person every 24 month period - Registered Therapists and Health Practitioners
Covers up to $25 per visit up to $500 per person per calendar year for services provided by registered naturopaths, massage therapists, physiotherapists, chiropractors, speech pathologists, chiropodists/podiatrists, psychologists, audiologists, acupuncturists, and nutritionists. - Hospital Accommodation
Benefits cover costs for semi-private or private hospital rooms for acute care (no age restrictions). - Hospital Daily Cash Benefit
If you are confined to a hospital, we will pay you up to $40 per day from the 4th day of hospitalization, up to age 65. (8th day for pregnancy related stays). Children and adults over the age of 65 up to $20 per day. There is a $15,000 lifetime maximum on this benefit. - Local Ambulance
Benefits cover the cost of ambulance fees in emergencies, including air ambulance and Treat No Transport. Includes payment for Treat-No-Transport, charges for treatment when an ambulance is called to the scene of an accident or place of illness and transportation to hospital is not required. - Private Duty Care Nursing
Benefits cover the cost for private duty care nursing in your home, provided the nurse is a Registered Nurse (RN) and care begins immediately following the discharge of an acutely ill bed patient from a hospital. Choose coverage between $3,000 and $7,000 per person per calendar year. There is a $25,000 lifetime maximum on this benefit. - Emergency Out of Province
Benefits protect 80% of emergency medical employees and their dependents for business or vacation travel. - Medical Services and Supplies
Benefit covers items like casts, crutches, oxygen and oxygen supplies, wheelchairs, hearing aids blood pressure monitors and more. - Hearing Aids
Benefit covers $300 per person per 5 calendar years. - Accidental Dental
Benefits cover up to $2,500 per person for accidental damage to natural teeth. - Accidental Death and Dismemberment
Benefit covers the principal sum up to $25,000. - Life Insurance
Benefit covers up to $10,000 for each person. - Critical Illness Insurance
Benefits cover up to $10,000 for the employee; $2,000 for a spouse and $1,000 for each dependent child. - Survivor Benefit
A dependent whose coverage would otherwise cease because of the death of the employee will continue to be eligible for benefits without further payment of contributions provided the employee was covered for at least 12 months before death. Coverage continues until the earliest of:- 24 months after the death of the employee
- The date the covered person ceases to be a dependent other than as the result of the employee's death
- The date the policy terminates
Dental Option—Basic Dental Care
The Basic Dental Option covers services for the basic care and maintenance of teeth including procedures to restore teeth to natural and normal function. After three-month no-claims waiting period, the basic dental option covers all eligible expenses up to 70% in the first year and up to 80% thereafter. Eligible expenses include:
- Recall examinations (2 per year)
- Diagnostic expenses
- Preventive treatments
- Restorative treatments
- Periodontal cleaning
- Prosthodontic services
- Oral surgery
There is no financial limit on the amount that will be paid for the services covered over the lifetime of the Basic Dental Plan.
Dental Option—Major Dental Care
Covers major restorations or replacement of missing teeth, or the reconstruction of teeth where basic restorative methods cannot be used satisfactorily (includes crowns, bridges and dentures). After three-month no-claims waiting period, the basic dental option covers all eligible expenses up to 70%. The maximum amount payable for major restorative services is limited to $500 for each covered person every calendar year.
Enrollment Requirements
All eligible employees including business owners and managers must enroll for each benefit unless they are already covered through their spouse's plan. Eligible employees must work a minimum of 20 hours each week on a full-time permanent basis.
