Pacific Blue Cross building recognized for accessibility
Wednesday, Sep 25, 2024Our building joins over 1,965 certified sites across Canada, reinforcing our commitment to creating inclusive, accessible spaces for all.
We’re proud to share that the Pacific Blue Cross building is now “RHF Accessibility Certified” by the Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification™ (RHFAC) program, which assesses the level of meaningful access in the built environment for people with varying disabilities, including those affecting mobility, vision, and hearing.
With an 84.2% rating, this milestone reflects the collaborative efforts of our team, our property staff, and the building management at GWL Realty Advisors. To date, more than 1,965 sites across Canada have been rated through this program. We're proud to be part of this growing movement towards making spaces more accessible and creating a more inclusive society for everyone – regardless of ability.
“At Pacific Blue Cross, accessibility means empowering everyone to be their best selves, ensuring no one is left behind,” says Rob Chiarello, Senior Vice-President, People & Culture at Pacific Blue Cross. “It’s more than removing barriers – it’s about creating a sense of belonging where everyone feels valued. This certification reinforces our commitment to actively engaging with individuals facing accessibility challenges to create impactful solutions. By breaking down stereotypes, listening, and collaborating, we aim to build a world where everyone can thrive, participate, and contribute fully.”
This certification is just one aspect of our broader commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We’ve taken meaningful steps in this area, such as partnering with CANWin and signing the President’s Group “Pledge to Measure,” which focuses on increasing disability representation and inclusion in the workforce. Additionally, we are proud members of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade’s Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Council, and we frequently collaborate and consult with organizations like Pride at Work and the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion.
While we celebrate this achievement, we recognize that our work to improve accessibility is far from over. We will continue to refine and improve our spaces, ensuring they are welcoming and accessible to all.
