How to sign up for PROVIDERnet
Your PROVIDERnet account will allow you to directly bill Pacific Blue Cross for services on behalf of your clients. They won't have to complete any paperwork, and will only have to pay upfront for what isn't covered by their benefits plan.
Using your PROVIDERnet account, you'll be able to set up direct deposit and look up claim statements in just a few clicks.
To register a business for PROVIDERnet, you'll need a few details ready to hand.
You'll need your provider office details:
- Legal business name
- Business address
- Contact phone number and unique email address for your business
- If applicable, dental providers will also need their CDAnet, DACnet, or CDHAnet office number
You'll need the contact information for the person who will be the primary administrator for your account. This is the individual who will set up your direct deposit, view claims statements, and may be submitting claims on behalf of practitioners for the provider office. This can be an office manager or front desk staff. The email address of this person may be the same as the provider office email, but must be different than the practitioner email. The exception to this is dental providers: the dental practitioner is assigned as the primary administrator and the office staff are standard administrators.
Next, you'll need the following details for each of your practitioners:
- Provincial regulatory registration number
- Registration effective date
- Unique email address
- For dental practitioners, you'll also need a UIN number
If you're an independent practitioner and don't have a unique email address, you can use a fake email address in the format of firstlastname@email.com.
For pharmacy provider registration, you'll need some additional information:
- Date of pharmacy opening
- PharmaCare number
- Name of the managing pharmacist
- Name of the owner or director and their email address
- Pharmacy's legal name
- Pharmacy's operating name
- BC-based pharmacies will also need their Health Insurance BC Letter, and the pharmacy's TCP or IP address. If you aren't sure of this last one, please contact your software vendor to ask them about this
- Pharmacies outside of BC will need to provide their accreditation letter from their province's College of Pharmacists.
To register a provider account:
- Head to providernet.ca and scroll down to the relevant provider section.
- Select Registration/Account Management, then select Register for a NEW account with Pacific Blue Cross or Register for a NEW provider location.
- Enter the required provider office and practitioner details on the following page.
- Once you have completed all the sections of the form, a notification will appear on screen letting you know that you have successfully submitted your application to register.
- Pacific Blue Cross will review your information. If your registration is approved, the primary administrator and each practitioner will receive an email from our team confirming this. The email will include your new Provider ID. As the final step in signing up to use PROVIDERnet, each individual will need to activate their own PROVIDERnet account.
To activate your account:
- Head back to providernet.ca and select Sign in to Providernet. Click Activate your account.
- Enter your Provider ID Number and Account Activation code. Each individual should have received a separate email from Pacific Blue Cross with these details.
- Next, you'll need to enter your full name and create a new password for your account. Select three challenge questions as an additional security measure. To help you remember your answers, think of hints that are personal to you and that others would not understand. You'll need to remember the exact spelling of your challenge question answers, and whether you used upper or lower case letters.
- Check the box to indicate that you have read and accept our User Agreement and Privacy Policy. You can view these by clicking on them one at a time. Click Register for Providernet at the bottom of the page.
Your PROVIDERnet account should be set up and ready to use. The final stage in the registration process will be for the primary administrator to set up direct deposit for your business. Watch our video for information on how to do this.
