Our 2024 Social Impact Report reveals how we’re advancing health equity and building healthier communities across British Columbia.

Pacific Blue Cross is proud to release its 2024 Social Impact Report, showcasing the meaningful ways we’re working to improve the health and wellbeing for British Columbians. As the province’s trusted health benefits provider for over 80 years, we are dedicated to supporting organizations across the province working to improve health outcomes.

“As a BC-based organization, we have a deep understanding of the province’s health care landscape and are uniquely positioned to support the health and wellbeing of our communities,” says Sarah Hoffman, President and CEO of Pacific Blue Cross. “By investing locally and forging meaningful partnerships, we’re committed to building a healthier BC.”

This year’s report highlights how we’re making a difference across BC, including:

  • Tackling racism in schools and communities – Teaming up with the BC Lions for the Team Up to End Racism program, where BC Lions players visit high schools to empower youth to recognize and confront racism.
  • Supporting midlife women’s health and research – Partnering with the Women’s Health Research Institute and BC Women’s Health Foundation to release HER-BC, a groundbreaking study on the physical, mental, social and economic impacts of menopause symptoms on midlife women in BC.
  • Advancing menstrual equity – Collaborating with United Way BC and CUPE 1816 for the Period Promise campaign to raise awareness and funds to alleviate period poverty for British Columbians who menstruate.
  • Promoting inclusive fitness – Sponsoring Walk with Pacific Blue Cross at the Vancouver Sun Run, making participation, safe accessible and inclusive for all fitness levels.
  • Driving support for ALS – Supporting the 2024 PGA of BC Golfathon for ALS, where professionals golf from sunrise to sunset for ALS research and care.
  • Granting dream drips – Continuing our partnership with Make-A-Wish Canada to provide comprehensive travel insurance for wish kids and their families, ensuring they can enjoy their dream trips worry-free.

Our commitment extends through the Pacific Blue Cross Health Foundation, which has granted over $5.6 million to more than 334 organizations across the province since 2011. These grants directly support charitable organizations that are striving to improve health outcomes for British Columbians.

With over 800 local experts based in Burnaby, Pacific Blue Cross remains dedicated to making a meaningful impact – one initiative at a time.
